Step 1: Create or Log In to Your Australia Post Developer Account
- Visit the Australia Post Developer Centre.
- If you don’t already have an account:
- Click Sign Up and complete the registration form with your business and contact details.
- Once registered, log in using your email address and password.
Step 2: Request an API Key for the Postage Assessment Calculator
- After logging in, navigate to the “View Our APIs” section on the Developer Centre homepage.
- This page lists all APIs available from Australia Post.
Locate the Postage Assessment Calculator API from the list and click Get an API Key.
Step 3: Complete the application form to receive the API key
Fill out the required information in the application form, including:
- Business name and ABN (if applicable)
- Contact name and email address
- Purpose of API usage (e.g., “Integration with ShipX”)
- After entering the details, click Submit to send your request.
Once your request is approved, Australia Post will send your API Key to the registered email address associated with your Developer Account.
How to sync Australia Post Postage Assessment Calculator with ShipX
Follow the steps below to connect your Australia Post Postage Assessment Calculator account and fetch live carrier rates in ShipX.
1. Go to Rates and click View on Scenarios.
2. Select the scenario where you want to add Australia Post Postage Assessment Calculator rates.
3. Under shipping rates, click Add shipping rate on the preferred shipping zone.

4. Select Live carriers as your rate type

5. Enter a name for your shipping rate.
6. Choose Australia Post Postage Assessment Calculator as your live carrier and click Sync.
7. Enter your Australia Post Postage Assessment Calculator API key and click Save.

8. Under shipping location, choose Use Shopify location, or Specify different location.
9. Under service by carrier, select how you want to display services:
- Show all services

- Pack each product separately: Every product is packed individually.
- AI-based packaging algorithm: Automatically finds the most efficient box combination using item dimensions and weights.
11. If you selected Pack by cart attributes or AI-based packaging algorithm, click Add package to add your packaging boxes.
12. Enter your package details:
- Package name
- Package max limit
- Package dimensions (Length x Width x Height)
- Empty box weight
Click Add package or Add.
Note: For AI-based packaging algorithm, enter the inner and outer dimensions of packages to calculate the shipping rates.
13. Set a fallback rate to prevent shipping losses if the carrier fails to fetch a live rate.

14. Click Save to complete the setup.
