The Pack each product separately method is ideal for fragile, oversized, or high-value items that require individual packaging. Each product in the order is packed in its own box, and the carrier calculates the shipping cost for every package independently.
How to setup Pack each product separately
- Click “Add shipping rate” on the shipping zone where you want this packing method to apply.
- Select “Live carriers” as the rate type.
- Enter a “Shipping rate name” for internal reference. This name will not be visible to customers. Only the carrier’s live services will appear at checkout.
- Select your preferred carrier to calculate live shipping rates.
- Click the “Sync” button, enter your carrier account details, and click the “Save” button.
- By default, Shopify uses your fulfillment location. To specify a different location, enable “Specify different location” and provide the address details.
- Choose the carrier services you want to offer customers.
- Choose “Pack each product separately” as your packaging method.
Note: Each product must have both weight and dimensions assigned in Shopify. Without this information, carriers will not be able to calculate shipping rates accurately. For detailed instructions on how to add dimensions to your products, please refer to our Product Dimensions setup guide.
- Define a fallback flat rate in case the carrier fails to return a rate.
- Click Save to complete your configuration.
