Custom carrier - Shiprocket

Shiprocket has been integrated as a carrier service within the ShipX app. This feature is available as an add-on under the Premium and Enterprise plans.

Please note that Shiprocket operates as a multi-carrier platform, meaning it provides a list of available courier partners rather than specific carrier services (e.g., UPS or FedEx). Once a courier is selected, all applicable shipping rates offered by that courier will be displayed to the customer at checkout.

Important notes:

  • Shiprocket supports domestic shipping within India only
  • Both the origin and destination addresses must be within India
  • International shipping is not supported via Shiprocket

How to create a Shiprocket API User

To integrate Shiprocket with ShipX, you must first create an API user:

  1. Register and create an account with Shiprocket using their official sign-up link.
  1. Log in to your Shiprocket account.
  1. Navigate to: Settings → API → Add New API User
  1. Click on “Create API User.”
  1. In the pop-up form:
      • Enter a unique email address (different from your main Shiprocket login email).
      • Select the required modules under Modules to Access.
      • Choose either “Allowed” or “Not Allowed” under Buyer’s Details Access, based on your requirements.
  1. Click “Create User.”

The API user password will be sent to your registered email address (not the API user email ID).

Once the API user is created, generate an authentication token using the Shiprocket Authentication API for further integration.

For more information, read the Getting Started article of the Shiprocket.

Packaging Rules & Methods for Live Carrier Shipping

Packaging rules define how products are grouped into shipment packages. Proper configuration ensures optimized shipping costs, improved safety, and compliance with carrier requirements.

Available Packaging Methods in ShipX

  • Packages are created based on cart attributes such as weight, volume, quantity, or total value.
  • You can define limits per package, and items will be grouped accordingly.

Best suited for: Standard products where shipping cost depends on total cart attributes.

  • Each product is packed individually in its own package.

Best suited for: Fragile, oversized, or high-value items, or when carriers charge per item.

  • An intelligent system automatically determines the most efficient packaging arrangement based on product dimensions and weight.
  • Helps reduce unused space and minimizes the number of packages.

Best suited for: Orders containing multiple items of varying sizes and weights.

Once the setup is complete, you can save the shipping rates. The applicable rates, based on the selected courier, will then be displayed on the checkout page.
