When you first install the ShipX app, it is enabled in Test Mode by default. This allows you to test your configured shipping rates before going live.
Step 1: Verify CCS API activation
Before testing, ensure that the Carrier Calculated Shipping (CCS) API is enabled in your Shopify store. If it isn’t, follow the instructions provided in our CCS API setup guide to activate it.
Step 2: Test shipping rates
Once the CCS API is active:
- Go to your Shopify checkout page.
- Enter “shipx” (if in test mode) or enter any name as the customer’s first name.
In Test Mode, ShipX will only return shipping rates when the first name entered as shipx.
Note: This behavior applies if you have not yet subscribed to a paid plan or currently on the free plan.
How to enable ShipX Testing mode (before going live)
If you want to test the shipping rates before showing them to the customers:
- Go to the “Help” section of the ShipX app.
- Click on “Subscriptions” tab.
- Enable the “Testing Mode” option.
When Testing Mode is enabled, ShipX rates will not appear to customers at checkout, but you can still test them by entering “shipx” as the first name during checkout.
