Shipping configuration

The Shipping configuration section in ShipX allows you to fine-tune how your shipping rates are calculated and displayed at checkout. Below are key features and settings you can manage in this section.

Use discounted cart total for shipping rate calculation

Use this option to apply cart-total conditions based on the final price after discounts.

Notion image

For example, if you offer free shipping for orders above ₹500, Shopify normally checks the original cart total. So even if a discount reduces the total below ₹500, free shipping would still apply.

When this option is enabled, ShipX will use the discounted cart total instead. This ensures conditions like free shipping or minimum order requirements are calculated based on what the customer actually pays.

Prevent rate doubling

In some cases, you may notice that shipping rates appear doubled at checkout. This usually happens for one of the following reasons:

Notion image

1. Multiple fulfillment locations

If your products are stocked in multiple fulfillment locations or warehouses, Shopify treats each location as a separate origin.

For example:

  • Product A ships from Location A
  • Product B ships from Location B

When a customer buys both products together, Shopify splits the order into two shipments and calculates separate shipping charges for each location, resulting in doubled rates.

2. Multiple custom shipping profiles

If you have different custom shipping profiles in Shopify (e.g., one for fragile items and another for regular items), Shopify calculates shipping separately for each profile. When products from multiple profiles are purchased together, the individual rates are combined, which again causes doubled rates.

How it works

To avoid this rate-doubling issue, ShipX offers the Prevent Rate Doubling feature, available in two versions:

Version 1 – Flat Rate Only

  • Allows you to set a single flat rate for all orders (e.g., $10 storewide).
  • Tiered or conditional pricing isn’t supported (e.g., offering free shipping over $50, or charging $5 for 1 - 2 items and $10 for 2 - 5 items).
  • To enable this, go to Settings > Shipping configuration and toggle on Prevent rate doubling.

Version 2 – Flat Rates by Region

  • Lets you configure flat rates based on zip codes, distance, or state/province.
  • Only flat rates are supported — no tiered or conditional pricing.
  • Example: You can charge a fixed rate for specific postcodes or distance ranges.

Note: Version 2 requires manual activation by our team. Please contact us via in-app chat or email at connect@logbase.io for assistance.

Enable UK Zip Code Support

Turn on this option if you need to set shipping rules for UK postal codes.

Use an underscore (_) followed by an asterisk (*) to replace spaces in partial codes.

💡

Example: HB1_* will match HB1 2BA but not HB12 C2.

Enable Fallback Rate

The Fallback rate ensures customers always see a shipping option at checkout, even if no shipping rule or scenario matches their order.

Notion image

You can set a fallback rate as either:

  • A flat rate (e.g., $10), or
  • A percentage (e.g., 10% of the cart total).

To enable this, go to Settings > Shipping configuration and turn on Fallback rate. This helps reduce checkout abandonment caused by missing rate options.
