Regions in ShipX define the geographical areas where your shipping rates and rules apply. You can create Regions using countries, provinces/states, or a combination of locations and use them when configuring your shipping scenarios.
Important: ShipX Regions and Shopify Markets are separate configurations. Shopify Markets determine where ShipX is enabled as a rate provider, while ShipX Regions determine which shipping scenarios and rates apply based on the customer's destination.
When a customer enters their shipping address at checkout, ShipX identifies the matching Region and evaluates the shipping scenarios configured for that Region.
How Regions Work with Shopify Markets
A ShipX Region does not need to have a one-to-one relationship with a Shopify Market.
For example, you can create an Australia Region in ShipX and configure shipping scenarios specifically for Australia.
When an Australian destination reaches ShipX, the app identifies the Australia Region and evaluates the shipping scenarios configured for it.
However, ShipX can return rates only when ShipX is enabled as a rate provider for the applicable Shopify Market.
Important: Creating a Region in ShipX alone does not enable ShipX rates for that destination. ShipX must also be enabled as a rate provider for the applicable Shopify Market.
Creating a Region
You can create and manage Regions from Rates → Scenarios in ShipX.
Step 1: Open Manage Regions
- Open ShipX.
- Go to Rates → Scenarios.
- Click Manage Regions.
You can also access Manage Regions while creating or editing a shipping scenario.

Step 2: Add a Region
- Click Add Region.
- Enter a Region name.
- Select the required countries or provinces/states.
- Add additional locations if required.
- Click Create Region.
The new Region will now be available when configuring your shipping scenarios.

Creating a Region with Multiple Locations
A single Region can contain multiple countries or provinces/states.
For example:
Region: Europe
Locations: France, Germany, Italy, Spain
You can then configure shipping scenarios that apply to all of these destinations through the same Region.
You can also select specific provinces/states within a country when you need more granular control.
Managing Existing Regions
Open Manage Regions to view and manage your existing Regions.
For each Region, ShipX displays its name and the countries or provinces/states included in it.
Edit a Region
- Find the Region you want to modify.
- Click Edit.
- Update the Region name or locations.
- Save your changes.
Delete a Region
- Find the Region you want to remove.
- Click Delete.
- Confirm the deletion.

Important: ShipX must always have at least one Region. You cannot delete all Regions from the app.
Rest of the World
Use Rest of the World when you want a Region to cover destinations that aren't assigned to another ShipX Region.
For example, if you have:
Australia
- Australia
North America
- United States
- Canada
A Rest of the World Region covers the remaining destinations that aren't included in those Regions.

Note: Locations assigned to a specific Region are excluded from Rest of the World.
Excluding a Location from Rest of the World
If you want different shipping rules for a destination currently covered by Rest of the World, create a separate Region for it.
For example, to configure different rates for Japan:
- Click Add Region.
- Enter Japan as the Region name.
- Select Japan.
- Click Create Region.
- Create the required shipping scenario for the Japan Region.
Japan will then use its specific Region instead of Rest of the World.
Tip: Use specific Regions when destinations require different shipping rates or rules. Use Rest of the World when the same shipping configuration can apply to all remaining destinations.
Default Domestic Region
When you install ShipX, a Domestic Region is automatically created based on the country of your store's primary location.
You can use the Domestic Region to configure shipping scenarios for your domestic destinations and create additional Regions as needed.
Important: At least one Region must always remain in ShipX.
