Product dimensions

Product dimensions help you set up dimension-based shipping rates in ShipX.

You can assign product dimensions in two ways:

  1. Through Shopify (using metafields)
  1. Directly within the ShipX app

Note: ShipX supports up to 60,000 products for dimension-based rates.


Option 1: Manage Product Dimensions Through Shopify (via Metafields)

You can store and sync your product dimensions (length, width, and height) from Shopify using metafields.

Steps to Create Metafields for Dimensions

  1. Go to Shopify Settings > Metafields and metaobjects > Products.

  1. Click “Add definition to create a new metafield.

  1. Enter a name (e.g., length).

  1. Click Select Type > Dimension > Save. Once saved, the namespace and key will be generated automatically.
  1. Repeat the above steps to create metafields for width and height.
  1. Go to the “Products” section in Shopify.
  1. Open any product, you’ll now see the new metafields for dimensions.

  1. Enter the length, width, and height values for each product.

Sync Product Dimensions to ShipX

Once you’ve added the dimensions in Shopify, follow these steps to sync them to ShipX:

  1. In the ShipX app, go to the “Products” page.

  1. Click the “Sync metafields” button.
  1. Enter the namespace and key for length, width, and height.

  1. Click “Sync metafields to start syncing product dimensions.
  1. After syncing, click “Edit next to a product to verify the imported dimensions.

Note:

  • When you sync metafields, the process applies to all products in your store.
  • Ensure all metafield values are updated in Shopify before syncing to avoid data loss or overwrites.

Option 2: Assign Product Dimensions Directly in ShipX

You can also manage product dimensions directly within the ShipX app.

Steps to Add Dimensions Manually

  1. Go to the “Products” section in ShipX.
  1. Click “Edit next to the product you want to update.

  1. Enter the length, width, and height, then click the “Savebutton.

Bulk Add Dimensions Using CSV Import

  1. Go to Products > Import products dimensions.

  1. Enter your email address and click “Export productsbutton. You’ll receive a CSV file containing all your products.

  1. Open the CSV and update the dimension fields as needed.
  1. Change the Product ID and Variant ID columns to number format (no decimals). To do this: Select the column > right-click > Format cells > Numbers > 0 decimals.

  1. Save the CSV file.
  1. Return to ShipX, click “Add a CSV file” to upload the updated file.
