You can set flat shipping rates in ShipX based on packages required to ship an package.
This helps you apply consistent shipping charges for products that meet specific packages.
How to add flat rates based on packages
1. Go to the Rates page and create a scenario for your condition.
2. Click Add shipping rate and enter an name for your shipping rate.
3. Select the criteria as Package and select any one packaging method.
- Pack by cart attributes: Packages are created based on the cart’s attributes such as weight, volume, quantity, or total value. You can define limits for each box, and items are automatically grouped to fit within those limits.
- AI-based packaging algorithm: An intelligent algorithm automatically determines the most efficient packing arrangement based on product dimensions and weight. It reduces empty space, optimizes packaging, and minimizes the number of boxes used per shipment.
4. Click Add package.
5. Enter the package dimensions, and enter the shipping rate for that package.
6. Click Save.
Rotational Packing (AI-Based Algorithm)
The Rotational Packing feature is an advanced enhancement available within our AI Packing Algorithm. This feature is designed to intelligently identify the most suitable package for the products added to the cart by evaluating all available package dimensions configured within the app.
Using this functionality, the app can automatically rotate product dimensions in different orientations to determine the optimal fit inside the available packages. This helps improve packing accuracy, reduce unused package space, and increase the efficiency of shipping rate calculations.
How Rotational Packing Works
By default, products are packed using the standard orientation:
- Length × Width × Height
In addition to the default orientation, the system can evaluate the following five alternative orientations:
- Width × Length × Height
- Height × Length × Width
- Length × Height × Width
- Width × Height × Length
- Height × Width × Length
However, only one orientation can be used during the packing process.
Orientation Configuration
You can configure the allowed orientations based on your packing requirements. The AI Packing Algorithm will then evaluate the enabled orientations and determine the best possible package fit for the products in the cart.
Packing History and Visualization
The Rotational Packing process can also be reviewed within the History section of the app.
From the History section, you can review how products were packed, see which orientation was applied, and verify how the AI algorithm selected the most suitable package based on the best-fit calculation.
