Product-Based Delivery Customization allows you to customize Shopify's native shipping methods based on the products in a customer's cart.
You can configure rules using various product attributes to determine which delivery methods should be displayed, hidden, renamed, or reordered during checkout.
The following product-based conditions are available:
- Product Total
- Product Subtotal
- Product Discount
- Product Price
- Product Weight
- Product Tag
- Product SKU

Product Total
The Product Total condition allows you to customize delivery methods based on the total value of an individual product in the customer’s cart, after all applicable discounts have been applied.
This condition is useful when you want to offer different shipping methods depending on the total value of a specific product.
Example
- Product total greater than $200 → Display White Glove Delivery.
- Product total less than $50 → Display Standard Delivery only.
This helps ensure that appropriate delivery methods are offered based on the total value of each product.
Product Subtotal
The Product Subtotal condition allows you to customize delivery methods based on the subtotal value of an individual product before any discounts are applied.
This condition is useful when shipping decisions should be based on the product's original price rather than its discounted value.
Example
- Product subtotal greater than or equal to $100 → Display Express Delivery.
- Product subtotal less than $100 → Display Standard Delivery.
This ensures delivery methods are determined using the product's original selling price.
Product Discount
The Product Discount condition allows you to customize delivery methods based on the discount amount applied to an individual product.
This is useful when promotional discounts affect your shipping strategy.
Example
- Product discount greater than or equal to $100 → Display Economy Delivery.
- Product discount less than $100 → Display Express Delivery.
This allows you to control delivery methods according to the discount applied to each product.
Product Price
The Product Price condition allows you to customize delivery methods based on the selling price of an individual product.
This condition helps differentiate shipping options for premium and lower-priced products.
Example
- Product price greater than $100 → Display Express Delivery.
- Product price less than $30 → Hide Express Delivery and display Standard Delivery.
This enables you to tailor shipping methods according to the price of each product.
Product Quantity
The Product Quantity condition allows you to customize delivery methods based on the quantity of an individual product in the customer's cart.
This is particularly useful for bulk purchases or quantity-based shipping rules.
Example
- Product quantity greater than or equal to 5 → Display Bulk Delivery.
- Product quantity less than 5 → Display Standard Delivery.
This ensures customers are presented with the most appropriate delivery methods based on product quantity.
Product Weight
The Product Weight condition allows you to customize delivery methods based on the weight of an individual product.
This helps ensure that suitable shipping methods are available for lightweight and heavy products.
Example
- Product weight greater than 10 kg → Display Freight Delivery.
- Product weight less than 1 kg → Display Standard Delivery.
This allows customers to see delivery methods that are appropriate for the weight of each product.
Product Tag
The Product Tag condition allows you to customize delivery methods based on the tags assigned to products in your Shopify store.
This is useful for creating shipping rules for specific categories or groups of products.
Example
- Product tag equals "Class A" → Display Freight Delivery.
- Product tag does not equal "Class A" → Display Standard Delivery.
This helps you apply specific delivery methods only to products with designated tags.
Product SKU
The Product SKU condition allows you to customize delivery methods based on the Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) assigned to individual products.
This condition is useful when you want to create shipping rules for specific products using their unique SKU values.
Example
- Product SKU equals ABC-1001 → Display Express Delivery.
- Product SKU equals FRG-500 → Display Freight Delivery.
- All other SKUs → Display Standard Delivery.
Using the Product SKU condition enables you to create precise delivery customization rules for individual products without relying on product names or tags. It is especially useful when managing stores with large product catalogs or products that share similar names.
