Delivery Customization Scenarios

In the Rates section, you can create scenarios and manage all your Delivery Customization rules. A scenario determines when a customization should be applied and how Shopify's native shipping methods should be modified during checkout.

Using scenarios, you can create multiple delivery customization rules based on your business requirements. Each scenario can perform actions such as Show, Hide, Rename, or Reorder Shopify's native shipping methods based on the conditions you define.

This allows you to provide a more personalized and streamlined checkout experience for your customers.

Delivery Customization Limit

Shopify allows a maximum of 25 Delivery Customizations per store. This limit is shared across all installed apps that use Shopify's Delivery Customization feature.

Each scenario that you create and save in ShipX is counted as one Delivery Customization in Shopify.

For example, if you create 10 scenarios in ShipX, Shopify will count them as 10 Delivery Customizations.

Note: Please ensure that conflicting conditions or actions are not configured within your scenarios. If multiple scenarios or actions conflict with each other, the expected delivery customization may not be applied correctly at checkout. For the best results, ensure that your scenarios and actions are configured clearly and without conflicts.

Components of a Delivery Customization Scenario

Each Delivery Customization scenario consists of three sections:

1. Scenario Details

Enter the Scenario Name and an optional Description to easily identify the purpose of the scenario.

2. Conditions

The Conditions section determines when the delivery customization should be applied.

Before adding conditions, choose the type of condition set you want to use.

Note: Shopify limits the amount of data that can be retrieved for a single Delivery Customization. To optimize performance, you must choose either Basic or Advanced conditions before configuring your scenario.

Choose Basic when your customization requires commonly used conditions such as:

  • Cart total, subtotal, discount, quantity, and weight
  • ZIP code
  • Product quantity, SKU, and tags
  • Customer location, customer tags, and login status

Choose Advanced when your customization requires additional checkout data, such as:

  • Cart attributes
  • Product vendor, type, collection, and purchase type
  • Product format
  • Customer order history
  • B2B company information
  • Date and time

After selecting the condition type, you can configure one or more conditions and specify whether all, any, or none of the conditions must match for the scenario to be applied.

3. Actions

The Actions section defines what happens when the configured conditions are met.

You can configure actions to customize Shopify's native shipping methods, such as showing, hiding, renaming, or reordering the available delivery options during checkout.

How to create a Delivery Customization Scenario

The following example demonstrates how to create a Delivery Customization scenario.

1. Navigate to the Delivery Customization section within the ShipX app.

2. Click Rates section to create a new scenario.

3. Enter a Scenario Name and an optional description.

4. Click Add Condition and configure the conditions for the scenario.

Example: Cart Quantity → Greater than or equal to → 1

6. Click Save to save the scenario.

Once saved, the scenario will be available in the Delivery Customization list.

Synchronization with Shopify Settings

When you create or delete a scenario within the ShipX app, the corresponding Delivery Customization is automatically created or removed in Shopify Settings.

However, changes made directly within Shopify’s Delivery Customizations settings are not synchronized back to ShipX.

For this reason, we recommend managing all ShipX Delivery Customization scenarios within the ShipX app.

Scenario status and editing Scenarios

All scenarios created within ShipX app must be activated manually.

An inactive scenario will not affect the shipping methods displayed during checkout. However, the configured conditions and actions will not apply.

Each scenario is managed individually, if you need to edit a scenario or change its activity status, you must open that specific scenario and make the changes manually.

Bulk editing or bulk activation/deactivation are not supported.

Switching to the CCS API version

If you enable Carrier Calculated Shipping (CCS) API and plan to use ShipX’s shipping rate calculation features, you must first deactivate all existing Delivery Customization scenarios.

Delivery Customization and CCS API serves different purposes within ShipX. Therefore, before switching to the CCS API version, ensure that every Delivery Customization scenario is manually set to Inactive.
