Delivery Actions

Delivery Actions determine how Shopify's available delivery methods are modified when the conditions configured in a Delivery Customization scenario are evaluated.

Once the scenario conditions are evaluated, ShipX applies the appropriate action to the available delivery methods at checkout. Using Delivery Actions, you can show, hide, rename, reorder, or otherwise customize delivery methods according to your business requirements.

Each scenario contains two execution paths: IF and ELSE.

How Delivery Actions work

A Delivery Customization scenario evaluates the conditions you have configured and then follows one of the two available execution paths.

IF Action

The IF section is executed when the configured scenario conditions are met.

When all the required conditions are satisfied, ShipX applies the actions configured under the IF section to the available delivery methods at checkout.

Example

  • Condition: Cart Total is greater than $100
  • IF action: Show only Express Delivery
  • Checkout result: When the cart total is greater than $100, only Express Delivery will be displayed to the customer.

ELSE Action

The ELSE section is executed when the configured scenario conditions are not met.

When the conditions are not satisfied, ShipX applies the actions configured under the ELSE section instead.

Example

  • Condition: Cart Total is greater than $100
  • ELSE action: Show only Standard Delivery
  • Checkout result: When the cart total is $100 or less, only Standard Delivery will be displayed to the customer.

Important: The ELSE action is optional. If you do not configure an ELSE action, no additional action will be applied when the scenario conditions are not met.

Available Delivery Actions

ShipX provides multiple actions that allow you to control how delivery methods are presented to customers at checkout.

Hide Specific Rates

The Hide Specific Rates action allows you to hide selected delivery methods when the configured conditions are met.

Examples

  • Hide Express Delivery for orders weighing more than 10 kg.
  • Hide Local Pickup for customers outside the supported service area.

This action is useful when certain delivery methods should not be available for specific orders or customers.

Hide All Rates

The Hide All Rates action hides all available delivery methods when the configured conditions are met.

Examples

  • Hide all delivery methods for digital products.
  • Hide all delivery methods for locations where delivery is not supported.

This action can be used when none of the available delivery methods should be offered for a particular scenario.

Show Specific Rates

The Show Specific Rates action displays only the selected delivery methods when the configured conditions are met. Other available delivery methods will be hidden.

Examples

  • Show only Express Delivery for VIP customers.
  • Show only Store Pickup for customers in a local service area.

This action helps ensure that customers see only the delivery methods that are relevant to their order.

Show All Rates

The Show All Rates action displays all available delivery methods when the configured conditions are met.

Examples

  • Show all delivery methods during a promotional period.
  • Show all available delivery options for premium customers.

This action ensures that customers can access all available delivery methods when the configured conditions apply.

Add Message to Particular Rate

The Add Message to Particular Rate action allows you to add a custom message to a specific delivery method at checkout.

Examples

  • Standard Delivery → "Delivery in 3–5 business days."
  • Express Delivery → "Order before 2 PM for same-day dispatch."

This action allows you to provide customers with additional information about delivery times, processing schedules, or other important shipping details.

Rename Rate Name

The Rename Rate Name action allows you to change the display name of a delivery method at checkout when the configured conditions are met.

Examples

  • Standard Shipping → Standard Delivery
  • Express Shipping → Priority Delivery

This action allows you to use delivery names that are clearer, more descriptive, or better aligned with your store's terminology and branding.

Reorder Rate

The Reorder Rate action allows you to change the position of a delivery method within the list displayed at checkout.

The position numbering starts from 0:

  • 0 = First position
  • 1 = Second position
  • 2 = Third position
  • And so on.

Examples

  • Express Delivery → Position 0
  • Standard Delivery → Position 1

As a result, Express Delivery will be displayed before Standard Delivery.

This action allows you to prioritize preferred delivery methods and control the order in which customers see available options.

Move Rate to Top

The Move Rate to Top action moves a selected delivery method to the top of the available delivery methods at checkout.

Examples

  • Move Priority Delivery to the top for VIP customers.
  • Move Store Pickup to the top for customers within the local delivery area.

This action helps make a preferred delivery method more visible to customers.

Move Rate to Bottom

The Move Rate to Bottom action moves a selected delivery method to the bottom of the available delivery methods at checkout.

Examples

  • Move Economy Delivery to the bottom during peak seasons.
  • Move Freight Delivery to the bottom when it is less relevant to the customer's order.

This allows you to prioritize more relevant delivery options while keeping alternative methods available.

Show Only Cheapest Rate

The Show Only Cheapest Rate action displays only the delivery method with the lowest available shipping cost at checkout.

Examples

Available delivery methods:

  • Standard Delivery — $5
  • Express Delivery — $10
  • Same-Day Delivery — $20

Checkout result:

  • Standard Delivery — $5

This action simplifies the checkout experience by displaying only the most cost-effective delivery option.

Show Only Highest Rate

The Show Only Highest Rate action displays only the delivery method with the highest available shipping cost at checkout.

Examples

Available delivery methods:

  • Standard Delivery — $5
  • Express Delivery — $10
  • White Glove Delivery — $25

Checkout result:

  • White Glove Delivery — $25

This action is useful when you want to offer only the highest-tier or premium delivery option when specific scenario conditions are met.
