Customer-Based Delivery Customization

Customer-Based Delivery Customization allows you to customize Shopify's native shipping methods based on customer information provided during checkout or stored in your Shopify customer records. By configuring customer-based conditions, you can control which delivery methods are displayed, hidden, renamed, or reordered for different customers.

The following customer-based conditions are available:

  • Customer City
  • Customer State/Province
  • Customer Tag
  • Company (Checkout Field)
  • Customer Login Status

Customer City

The Customer City condition allows you to customize delivery methods based on the city entered by the customer during checkout.

This condition is useful when you want to offer specific shipping methods for particular cities or serviceable locations.

Example

  • Customer city is New York → Display Same-Day Delivery.
  • Customer city is Los Angeles → Hide Express Delivery.

This helps you provide location-specific delivery options based on the customer's city.

Customer State/Province

The Customer State/Province condition allows you to customize delivery methods based on the state or province entered by the customer during checkout.

This is useful when different shipping methods are available for different regions.

Example

  • Customer state is California → Display Express Delivery.
  • Customer state is Alaska → Display Standard Delivery only.

This enables you to tailor delivery methods according to the customer's state or province.

Customer Tag

The Customer Tag condition allows you to customize delivery methods based on the tags assigned to a customer in Shopify.

This condition is ideal for offering different shipping options to specific customer groups, such as wholesale customers, VIP members, or loyalty program members.

Example

  • Customer tag is VIP → Display Priority Delivery.
  • Customer tag is Wholesale → Display Pickup and Freight Delivery.

Note: The email address entered during checkout must match an existing Shopify customer record for the customer's tags to be identified and applied.

This allows you to provide personalized delivery options based on customer segmentation.

Company (Checkout Field)

The Company condition allows you to customize delivery methods based on the company name entered in the Company field during checkout.

This is particularly useful for B2B stores that want to provide different shipping options for business customers.

Example

  • Company name is ABC Logistics → Display Business Delivery.
  • Company name is XYZ Retail → Display Pickup and Express Delivery.

This enables you to personalize delivery methods for customers based on their company information.

Customer Login Status

The Customer Login Status condition allows you to customize delivery methods based on whether the customer is logged in to their Shopify account during checkout.

This is useful when you want to offer exclusive shipping methods to registered customers while displaying different options for guest customers.

Example

  • Logged-in customers → Display Express Delivery.
  • Guest customers (Not Logged In) → Display Standard Delivery only.

This helps create a personalized checkout experience for both registered customers and guest shoppers.
