ShipX allows you to create shipping scenarios based on the following customer parameters:
- Name, Email, Phone, Fax, Address, City, Tag, Company, Previous Orders Count, Previous Orders Spent
Note: Shopify has limitations in how it shares customer information during checkout.
How ShipX Identifies Customers for Applying Customer-Based Conditions
ShipX needs to identify who the customer is so it can apply the correct tags during checkout. Here’s how it works in simple terms:
1. When the customer is logged in
If the customer is already logged in on your online store, Shopify sends their Customer ID directly to ShipX.
- ShipX uses this ID to find the customer’s details (email, tags, etc.).
- No matching of checkout information is required in this case.
- Even if the customer types a slightly different name, phone number, or address at checkout, ShipX will still apply the right tags because the Customer ID is enough.
2. When the customer is NOT logged in
If the customer checks out as a guest, Shopify does not send the Customer ID.
In this case, ShipX has to identify the customer by comparing the details they enter at checkout with the information saved in Shopify.
Details that MUST match exactly
These fields must be identical in both the customer account and the checkout page:
- Name
- City
- Address
- Company Name
Special case: Shopify B2B customers
- For Shopify B2B setups, when customers log in, their saved details are pre-filled and the checkout page is grayed out.
- ShipX cannot retrieve customer tags or other parameters in this case.
- Customer-based rates may not work unless the standard Shopify checkout flow is used.
- The Company Name parameter works independently and will function for B2B processes.
