Troubleshooting distance-based conditions

If your distance-related conditions are not working as expected, review the possible causes and solutions below.

1. Invalid Google Maps API Key

To use distance-based conditions, you must have a valid Google Maps API key configured in the app. If you see an “Invalid API key” error, follow these steps to fix it:

Step 1: Verify API Key Setup

Ensure that your Google Maps API key has been correctly generated and entered in the ShipX app.

You can refer to the step-by-step guide in our User Guide for detailed instructions on creating and adding your API key.

Step 2: Enable Required APIs

Make sure the following seven APIs are enabled in your Google Cloud account:

  • Geocoding API
  • Places API
  • Directions API
  • Distance Matrix API
  • Maps JavaScript API
  • Geolocation API
  • Routes API

Step 3: Check Billing Setup

Confirm that your Google Cloud project has an active billing account linked. Even if the APIs are enabled, they won’t function unless billing is properly set up.

Step 4: Validate Scenario Configuration

Once your API and billing setup are confirmed:

  • Verify that your scenario conditions are configured correctly.
  • Ensure the correct distance units (miles or kilometers) are selected in the app.

By completing the above steps, you should be able to resolve issues related to invalid or inactive Google API keys.

If the problem persists, please reach out to our support team for assistance.

2. UK Zip Code Support

If your UK postal codes (alphanumeric zip codes) aren’t working as expected, make sure to enable UK Zip Code Support in the app settings.

To enable this feature go to ShipX > Settings > Shipping configuration → Enable UK zip code support

This setting ensures that ShipX properly recognizes UK postal codes that contain both letters and numbers.

ℹ️

Important notes:

  • Formatting Zip Codes: Replace spaces in UK postal codes with an underscore (_).
    • Example: Enter SW1A_1AA instead of SW1A 1AA.

  • Range Values Not Supported: The colon (:) range format does not work with UK postal codes because they are alphanumeric.
  • Supported Matching: Partial matches and individual entries are supported.
    • Example: You can enter SW1A_* to match all postcodes starting with SW1A.

If you still experience issues after enabling UK Zip Code Support, contact our support team for further help.
