How to set shipping rates based on cart parameters

In this article, we’ll create two shipping options (Standard and Express) that display rates based on the number of items added to the cart.


Step 1: Create a scenario

  1. Go to the Rates section in the ShipX app.
  1. Click View on Scenarios > Create Scenario.

  1. Enter a name for your scenario (e.g., Standard Shipping).

  1. Click the “Add condition” button.
  1. From the condition dropdown, select: Cart Quantity > Greater than or equal to > 1 and click the “Add” button.

Step 2: Add a standard shipping rate

  1. Under Shipping rates, select the zone where you want to set the rate.
  1. Click the “Add shipping rateoption.

  1. Enter a rate name, for example, Standard Shipping.

Step 3: Set tiered cart total rates

  1. Scroll down and open the Criteria section.
  1. Select the Cart > Total option.

  1. Click “Add tiered ratebutton, then set:

      • 0–10 items → $20
      • 10+ items → $0 (Free Shipping)

      Once you set the tiers, click the “Add” button.


Step 4: Add an express shipping option

  1. Under the same zone, click “Add rate again.
  1. Create another rate named Express Shipping.

  1. Configure the rate amount as needed.

Step 5: Display both rates at checkout

Go to the ShipX Settings > Basic app setup > Multiple rates at checkout and set it to Show all rates.
