The Custom unique item add-on lets you charge shipping based on the number of unique product types in the cart rather than the total quantity. This is especially useful for construction or hardware stores where customers often purchase multiple units of the same item.
For example, if a customer orders 10 bricks, 5 cement bags, and 3 paint cans, ShipX counts this as 3 unique items, not 18 units. This helps you apply fair shipping charges based on the types of items in the cart, instead of the total quantities.
How to activate the add-on
1. Go to Help > Subscriptions.
2. Click Upgrade your plan.
3. Upgrade to the Premium plan if you haven’t already.
4. Click Activate Add-on on Custom unique item.
5. Complete the payment process.
How to set shipping rates using Custom unique item
Step 1: Create a scenario for custom unique item
1. Go to the Rates page in ShipX.
2. Click View on Scenarios and then click Create New Scenario.
3. Enter a name for your scenario.
4. Click Add condition and set: Cart > Unique Item > Equals to > 1.
5. Then click Add and Save the scenario.
Step 2: Set shipping rates for custom unique item
1. Click Add shipping rate under your shipping zone.
2. Enter a name for the shipping rate.
3. Under Shipping rate, select the criteria: Cart > Cart unique item.
4. Click Add tiered rate.
5. Set the tiers based on the number of unique items and click Add.
6. Click Save to complete the setup.
