The Custom Line Item Property add-on allows you to create packaging or shipping rules based on custom properties added to your Shopify products or cart items. This is useful when you need additional conditions over the standard conditions like barcode or SKU.
Note: All ShipX add-ons are available only on the Premium plan and they are billed separately per month or year.
How to activate the add-on
1. Go to Help > Subscriptions.
2. Click Upgrade your plan.
3. Upgrade to the Premium plan if you haven't already.
4. Click Activate Add-on on Custom inline item property.
5. Complete the payment process.
How to set shipping rules & rates based on custom inline item property
Example use case: Let’s say you sell custom t-shirts where customers can choose a “Print Type” (e.g., Screen Print, Embroidery, DTF).
You can use the line item property Print Type to:
- Apply specific packaging rules for embroidered items, or
- Set different shipping rates based on the selected print type.
Create scenario for inline item property
1. Go to the Rates page.
2. Click Create on Scenarios.
3. Enter a name for your scenario.
4. Click Add condition.
5. Set the condition as: Product > InLine Property > Equals to > Embroidery > Enter “fabric type” on Inline property name and click Add.
6. Set the shipping rate based on your preference.
Example: Set shipping rates for fabric type
1. Click Add shipping rate on your shipping zone.
2. Enter a name for your shipping rate.
3. Under Shipping rates, select the criteria: Product > Inline property.
4. Click Add tiered rate.
5. Set 1 to ~ (unlimited) and set the rate to $10.
6. Click Add and save the rate.
Likewise, you can set shipping rates for other fabric types based on your preference.
